Rufio is a handsome, 5 month old male Australian Shepherd mix puppy with a lot of energy! He is super playful with people and dogs and loves to run, run, run! He's talkative when he likes you and wants to play but he can be a little rough at times when he gets overly excited. As a growing puppy, Rufio will need plenty of exercise coupled with training structure for success in a new home. He does enjoy cuddling for short periods of time and actually loves to be brushed - maybe a little too much! This is good because he will require a lifetime of grooming to keep him healthy and looking his best. Rufio needs a very active person to be his best friend and strong, confident leader because he is not suited for a novice or inexperienced dog person. A large part of his training has revolved around addressing his resource guarding and he is doing well. It will be very important for his adopters to continue working on this to keep him on the right track as he matures. He is still young and currently weighs around 30 pounds but will continue to grow into a medium to large sized dog, approximately 50 to 60 pounds. Rufio would be an ideal companion for a family with teenaged children who can help with his training or an active, single person.
