Coffee Roasting is a new program scheduled to launch in Fall 2022! Incarcerated workers will learn the art of roasting coffee, and we will sell the finished product initially through the DOC Canteen program. Once we are able to meet that demand, we intend to offer coffee to the general public.
We have the capacity to roast 50lbs per batch in our main production roaster, and we have a smaller system for specialty and test batches. All workers in this program earn minimum wage and have the opportunity to achieve roasting certifications that translate to the private sector upon release.
