Rio is a smart and happy 2 year old male Australian Shepherd mix with lots of energy! He loves to play fetch and will chase a ball as long as you want to throw it. He can be a little stubborn but has learned all of his basic obedience well and will listen to commands as long as you are firm and consistent. He lived with and gets along well with other dogs as long as he is introduced properly. Rio may be a little intimidated by other male dogs but once he's comfortable with them he loves to play! He lived with a 9 year old child and likes to jump up and may playfully nip so Rio would be most successful in a home with older children that can help reinforce his training. We've worked on these behaviors and he responds well to correction and wants to please. At around 40 pounds Rio is a nice, medium sized fellow who would love going on lots of adventures or have some acreage and a job. He would not do well in a home with cats. Rio is almost done with his training and will be ready to parole from prison in a couple of weeks (mid June) so please make a plan to come and see him! Rio's adoption fee is $650 which includes a lifetime of support for his training. He's waiting down in our Canon City location so please complete an adoption application to get on his visiting list.
