Morty is a 2 and 1/2 year old male Shar Pei/Lab mix who has turned into a great dog. He weighs about 58 pounds and came into the program afraid of everything. New people, new places, new sights and sounds made him a little unsure when he first entered prison but he adapted quickly. Now Morty just wants to play! Play, play, PLAY! And he has learned all of his basic obedience well. It may take a couple of tries when teaching him something new but with persistence and consistence he picks it up in no time. Don't be concerned about the high PLAY-drive; Morty also has a chill side and will calm down and hang out. His handler describes him as "a people person" (LOL!). Morty will let you pet him until your arm falls off and he loves to put his head in your lap for loving. He also enjoys brushing and will even switch sides to make sure you get him from all angles. Not much is known about Morty's past history in a home but did show attempts at scaling a 6 ft fence at the shelter he was transferred from. We can give you some ideas on how to address this if it becomes an issue but if he has the perfect home he probably won't even try to leave!
