Mitzi is a 1 year old, female Retriever/Beagle mix weighing just over 50 pounds. She is very high energy and doesn't seem to have a slow gear! Her energy level is very manageable with someone that has a firm, calm energy. She is a bouncy, fun-loving girl but gets very over-stimulated at times so would do best in a home without children. In a previous home some destructive behaviors were noted but since being in training in the prison, with the use of a dog crate, she does great and sleeps quietly through the night. She plays well with other dogs - especially those that can match her energy level - and is very friendly and outgoing with people. She does have a stubborn streak and at times her explosive energy makes her difficult to correct verbally but she's improving with the use of a spray bottle to disrupt her focus and calm redirection gets her back on track. She does very well on 'place' and basic obedience on leash. Her expressiveness and big personality are adorable and she is still very much a puppy that had little training at a critical point in her development. Mitzi has so much potential and will only improve with a firm, calm hand at the wheel, steering her in the right direction and maintaining the foundation that we have laid in her training. An active couple or single person with no kids, cats, small dogs and time to give to her would be ideal. Meet Mitzi in Sterling or Denver.
