My name is Hobbs and I'm a 2 year old, male Boxer/Lab mix in search of a home. I weigh just over 70 pounds and I'm outgoing and playful. My handler says I'm really smart and learn faster than most other dogs he's known. I am very social with people and female dogs. I am pretty active and enjoy running with other dogs, long walks, and playing in the snow. Cold weather doesn't bother me! My favorite thing is playing fetch and I have great physical ability and endurance. I'm a big boy with a big appetite for life (and food) so I've been pretty easy to train and respond really well to positive training techniques (treats, verbal, physical praise) and will listen to verbal correction when needed. Even though I'm smart and have learned a lot, I can still become distracted by a large group of active dogs so a strong leader will be key to keeping me on the right path (and out of prison!). I can be a little mouthy so we're working on that, too. Because of my size and activity level, I'll do best in a home with a big yard, lots of opportunities to run (and play fetch!) for exercise. Older, teenaged children would be ideal, and no cats or small dogs, please. I prefer female dogs to adult male dogs and I can be protective/may bark if I'm startled by a knock on your door. If you can see through to my heart of gold and want to try to meet, let's make a date! Just complete an adoption application and email DOC_k9program@state.co.us to ask about getting a visit. I'm in training up in Sterling so we can meet there or in Denver. My adoption fee is just $650 which includes a lifetime of support for my training and all of this handsomeness!
