My name is Cameron. I am currently serving a 12 year sentence for drug conspiracy. So far I have been incarcerated for 3 years. 1 out of those 3 years I have been in the SWIFT program. During my participation I have worked hard to earn my certifications to become a firefighter Type 2. I have also earned my rank as Squad Boss and am working to complete my Type 1 task book. If you would have told me this is what I would be doing a year or two ago I would have laughed in your face and called you a liar. I am truly proud of my accomplishments through the SWIFT program. I am passionate about what I do. I love what I do every day I am at work. It has taught me that instead of being out there selling drugs and poisoning my community I would rather serve my community and work to improve it and protect it from disaster. It has given me a new found love for Colorado. I love my Colorado Community. The program has also taught me how to develop strong leadership characteristics and shown me skills to deal with a wide spectrum of different personalities. The program has also given me a wide variety to career paths to choose from when I re-enter my community. I would also like to give a special thanks to our bosses Abel Chavez, Christopher Mangiarelli, and Joseph Ortega. They truly go above and beyond for us guys and the program itself. I don't know where I would be without their love and support. I love the SWIFT program and highly recommend it to anyone that meets the criteria. It has turned me into the man I am supposed to be, something everyone in my family can be proud of. But at the end of the day, me, myself, I can be proud of my choices. At the end of the day I am a firefighter, and at the end of the day I am CCI!
