My name is Mater and I am a rather unique fellow. I am a male Chihuahua mix (probably Dachshund) that is 1 1/2 years old and weighs in at almost 12 pounds. I can be very shy at first and I like to warm up to somebody before my full personality really comes out. I'm a little guy and I get really intimidated and can become a little defensive if you reach over my head to pet me so I prefer a gentle scratch under the chin or chest at first. You see, I had a rough start and was removed from a neglectful situation so I never learned appropriate potty habits. I thought it was okay to lift my leg on and claim all of the nicest things I could find but I am learning that this is not okay - especially if I want a chance to get out of prison and into a nice, loving home. Once I get to know you, you will see that I am a true sweetheart. I like cuddles and will want to be next to you all of the time. I am a really good listener and love to play with toys. I coexist well with other dogs and I'm learning how to play better with them. I do best when there are toys involved! I have a great sense of humor and love to act super silly and have lots of love to give. Even though I am a little guy I have HUGE potential and adopting me gives you a lifetime of support for my training to keep me on the right track. I'm in Denver and my adoption fee is $650.
