Gage is a fun-loving, 5 and 1/2 year old male Plott Hound mix. He's very smart and picked up on his basic obedience training quickly because he is very treat motivated. He enjoys playing with other dogs and cuddling with humans. Gage weighs about 67 pounds and this handsome guy will also need to be on Apoquel for life to manage his allergies and our veterinary partner said that he may also have some future arthritis concerns due to unusual conformation in his hind end but has no current concerns. An over-the-counter joint supplement is recommended at some point. Due to his very short coat, Gage doesn't much care for the colder weather but a warm, sunny day with some grass brings out the puppy in him and he loves to roll on his back with a big smile on his face! Gage gets along great with other dogs however he must not go to a home with cats or other small animals because he has a very high prey drive (probably from the Hound in him). Maintaining the use of a crate in the home will be very important to make sure Gage is a good boy and doesn't get into anything he shouldn't and will chew mats or blankets if left unsupervised. He is also known to be vocal at times (another Hound characteristic) and enjoys a good talk every now and again. To help this mature fellow find a good home soon, we have reduced his adoption fee to $325 and he still comes with a lifetime of support for his training and all the Alumni privileges allowed when adopting from this program. Come meet Gage at our Denver or Sterling locations to see if he's the right dog for you!
